Demo Sessions Vol. 2 continues the journey that began with Vol. 1 — the second chapter in a three-part collection of instrumental reworks and reconstructed demos by The Cavemen. This new volume deepens the band’s exploration of sound, blending shoegaze textures, alternative rock, and electronic layers that at times drift into dream pop, without ever losing the raw, emotional core of rock. Each of the nine tracks builds on a balance between nostalgia and evolution — cinematic, melancholic, yet luminous in tone. While these recordings are not the final studio versions, they stand as living blueprints of what’s to come: fragments of memory, rediscovered sketches, and creative sparks reshaped into new forms inside The Cave Studio.

We originally meant to make 12 tracks for this album and were supposed to release it on July 31st, but we both got kind of burnt out since we had made about 10 tracks in only a single week. 4 of which were discarded and weren’t used on the album. But regardless, we hope you enjoy this fantastical little experience! Coming out also in a beautiful limited digipak CD edition, this release is a spectacular first solo endeavour for him on Mahorka, after the collaboration album of Autonomaton + Pandacetamol, two albums of Cognition Delay (the group of him and Jeremy Rice / Abdicant), plus some outstanding remixes and compilation appearances. Positively addicted to his hardware music machines, the 12 tracks on "Below The Surface" have analogue warmth, cut through by glassy FM tones and intricate percussion. The overall effect is dizzying and immersive. Look below the surface and find a deep ocean of sound. Anton Donovan grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, before moving to LA to pursue his interests in music and improv comedy. His first real release is a sprawling yet gripping rock opera—with emphasis on the "opera."
