How does winter sound like? To me, it sounds like ambient pads, cold melodies and atmospheric breakbeats. This album is inspired by, and dedicated to, winter. It tries to express the feeling of coldness and the immersive atmosphere that this season brings with it. Track titles refer to winter weather phenomena or to Norse Mythology. This is my third full original record (with no plundering at all), it's my first attempt to produce an atmospheric dnb MICROMECHA album and it's intended to be the first chapter of a trilogy that will be completely released before the end of winter. Best enjoyed in winter time, possibly sipping some hot beverage by the fireplace. Or just wandering and wondering in the city at night. Inspired by autumnal moods, this tape is dedicated to the strenght required to face struggles and to the inner clarity needed to take action against challenges. Titles from track 2 to 8 compose a message of encouragement and hope for everybody listening. Produced and assembled during autumn, this album has really been in process since the MICROMECHA project started. The "Barber Breaks" series was a little experiment in plunderphonics aimed to create some downtempo jazzy drum and bass and these kinds of sounds have always shaped what I did musically, but from the beginning of this journey one of my goals was to fully produce an original jazzstep dnb/jungle album with some trip hop/breakbeat influences, so here it is! This is my second non-plundered album, obviously a lot of samples were used though. I really cared about this project and I sincerely hope you will like how it sounds. Best enjoyed with headphones or from a stereo system, contemplating, travelling or planning. The title of the album is a quote from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack". This collaborative effort was born out of an old track of Substak’s that was titled, “Mirror”. Each track is a ‘shard’ of its former self; re-envisioned by Substak and Séraphitüs-Séraphîta. All renditions remain true to the looped nature of their original source, yet venture into new moods and atmospheres within each shard. Variations include harsh noise, dark ambient, minimal sub-frequencies, and drone.
