el tubo elástico
IMPALA is the second album by El Tubo Elástico, an instrumental progressive rock quartet from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Originally released in 2018, it follows their acclaimed 2015 debut with six long tracks that combine progressive rock, space rock, post-rock, jazz-rock, psychedelia and touches of post-metal. Highlights include the two-part "El acelerador de picotas (Pt. I Ignición / Pt. II Colisión)", while guest musicians Guillermo Cides (Chapman Stick on "Turritopsis nutricula") and Ant Romero (exotic percussion on "La avispoteca") add new colors to the band's sound. This expanded edition, released by Astronomy Recording Music, includes the bonus track "La marcha elástica de los enanitos", a 16-minute version of Imán, Califato Independiente.

Pterodactylus
An eerie Halloween journey through forgotten dungeons, haunted ruins and shadowy forests, blending the lo-fi spirit of the Pumpkin Synth micro-scene with the medieval atmospheres of dungeon synth acts like Depressive Silence and Thangorodrim. Sotomonte
From Prayer to the Battlefield is the 2021 debut by Sotomonte, the project led by Bilbao bassist and singer Jokin Salaverria, a veteran of the Biscay live circuit who also spent several years playing in California. The title sums up the album: it moves between the reflective and the combative. The sound sits where late-60s West Coast rock meets British folk and psychedelia, with nods to the Canterbury scene and a mid-tempo hard rock edge. Three-part vocal harmonies in the Crosby, Stills & Nash tradition run through the whole record. The album goes from acoustic openings that build into full-blown rock workouts, to Jethro Tull-flavoured riffing, soul-tinged ballads and organ-led psychedelia, and closes with a long, rising crescendo. Produced by Iñigo Bregel (Los Estanques), who also plays many of the instruments, with Brian Young (The Jesus and Mary Chain, Fountains of Wayne) on drums and a handful of guest guitarists.

Sotomonte
Decadence & Renaissance is the second album by Sotomonte, released in October 2024 and the first recorded with a full, stable band around bassist, singer and songwriter Jokin Salaverria. The foundations remain the same as on the debut, folk and progressive rock with touches of psychedelia and hard rock, but the sound is now more progressive and, at times, heavier. Organ and keyboards take a leading role across its nine tracks, drawing clear lines to early Genesis, while the guitars bring sharp solos and a powerful, driving energy. The record moves from the opening "The Nothing", a classic late-60s/early-70s rock statement against a homogenised, controlled society, through the full-force "Gambit", the pastoral "Montecristo/The Riddle" and the reflective "What a Game to Play", with "The Beauty of Tomorrow" and "Little Vilma" as its two ballads. It closes with "The Everything", a hummed bookend to the opening track: the lyrics criticise many aspects of modern life, but the message is ultimately a positive one. Produced by Iñigo Bregel (Los Estanques). Named Best Spanish Album of 2024 by La Habitación 235.

SomeWhereOut
"Providence" is the third album from Raúl Lupiáñez under the name SomewhereOut, written over the course of two years and built as a collection of stories, each one drawing from the pages of Lovecraft and Poe. It's not a literal tribute, but a way of letting those stories keep breathing through sound. Lupiáñez builds a heavy, orchestral-rooted progressive sound, with guitar and keyboards as the connecting thread, joined by a cast of guest vocalists who bring distinct shades to each chapter of the record. Everything leads into the closing, title track, an eighteen-minute piece that works as both summary and culmination of everything that came before. The result is a record that demands time and attention, one that doesn't fully reveal itself until it has finished telling its last story.

Juan Belda & the Bit Band
“Memories of a Loser” presents Juan Belda & The Bit Band at their most focused and fully realized. Blending jazz, rock, electronics and experimental composition, the album refines the core elements that have defined the project into a more cohesive and direct musical statement. The result is a record that moves with clarity while preserving its exploratory edge. Structured compositions and open passages coexist naturally throughout the album, driven by a strong sense of atmosphere and interplay between musicians. This balance gives the music both direction and freedom - never static, never predictable. The presence of long-time collaborators such as Jorge Pardo, Pelayo Arrizabalaga, Enrico Barbaro, Juanjo Ortí, Javier Colis and Markus Breuss reinforces the collective identity at the heart of the project. Alongside original material, the album incorporates reinterpretations fully absorbed into its language, blurring the line between reference and transformation. “Memories of a Loser” is not a departure, but a consolidation - a point where the sound of the Bit Band becomes sharper, more deliberate and unmistakably its own.
