An indifferent surface

An indifferent surface

An alien world. Venusian. The air thick with chemical fog, toxic, damaging to breathe, painful to the eyes with a sickly yellow-green light that is both intense and diffuse. We move. The warm fog burns us outside and in, but we continue, disoriented. We lose our footing and tumble into alien skies. Floating or falling. Up or down. It's unclear. We're falling for indefinite time, the burning confuses our sense of the passing time - seconds or perhaps hours pass - until our feet make contact with solid ground. Abrasive, brittle shards of rock pierce our feet and we stumble through pools of chemical filth, gasping. We are cut, torn, crushed, damaged, rasping, burned, breathless. We need to leave. We have to try. We run for a break in the fog. Later, a chemical breeze scatters an acrid reddish dust. Radiant colours break through chemical clouds, casting tiny shadows on an indifferent surface. No-one will ever come here. __________________________ The pieces that make up this EP were originally improvised live in one session on June 28th and have been given a thorough tickle using Ableton and ProQ 4 - with some very rough edges left in place because it feels like the right thing to do, as this is quite a savage collection. Original live-streamed session jam: www.youtube.com/live/qHvWw8WJpH4 Improvisation tools include the Moog Subharmonicon, Moog DFAM, Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio, Instruo Arbhar and Lubadh, Strymon Starlab, Rossum Panharmonium and a Natural Gate - all fed into the Worng Soundstage for spacing.
