Six Broadcasts

For the anniversary of the release of The Third Broadcast, I asked a handful of excellent artists if they’d be open to rework it; to create a series of new broadcasts that take us even further from the source. Foolishly, they all agreed. So I bring you ////// Six Broadcasts /////// The original piece underlying this collection was the result of a butterfly effect from Eric Satie sitting at his piano in the 1880s, writing the Gymnopédies, to a single interval being turned into this granular ambient journey 140 years later. Satie's pieces were a precursor to his ideas for furniture music - widely attributed as the OG ambient music - so really, if you think about it, I'm sure it's what he would’ve wanted. Thank you to the contributors, it's amazing to hear your favourite piece reworked in such unique ways. More details on each piece, plus comments from each artist follow under each track.
