“The farther you zoom out, the more you see how things repeat… over and over and o-“ “memoryleaks (([||]))” is the fever dream of a life flashing before your eyes: disjointed, fragmented, and achingly familiar. Jumping from joy to heartbreak, nostalgia to grief, it traverses an uneven landscape of memories without asking permission to wander. Created by LA composer and visual artist You Us We Them, the album draws from years of raw keyboard improvisations he records each morning as a meditative exercise, a practice dubbed “Chaos Works.” Scattered throughout the album are "memory_leaks": real audio recordings collaged from childhood films, tape, and cell phone recordings — a marriage proposal, voicemails, conversations with people no longer here. The ideas flow gently then suddenly, often stopping and restarting as if they can’t decide what era they exist in. Every snippet is built to loop perfectly, to continue forward, or to find a hidden path connecting it elsewhere. Time slips and rewinds. Whispers may guide you. The puzzle pieces fit together if you let them. “memoryleaks” is not an album to listen to in a straight line. It is a deep well… a murky, luminous spiral through love, grief, rage, and joy across an entire lifetime. Maybe two. (([||]))
