by Marax
Marax has been mutating in the margins since 1998, a long-running circuitry of intent and erosion, slipping between harsh electronics, dark ambience, power electronics, and lo-fi decay without ever settling into a single skin. Each release feels less like a chapter than a coordinate, a flicker on a damaged map. With When Will It Stop? When Will It End?, its first transmission for ECHØVEIL RECORDS, Marax reduces the gesture to two extended incursions into drone noise, as if paring language down to a final, exhausted vowel. Here, the machines do not perform. They malfunction with purpose. They weep molten metal into the hollowed openings of the listener, a slow industrial grief that seeps rather than strikes. These are hymns of rupture. With the real. With nothing. With everything. Long-form utterances spiraling toward absence, logorrheas addressed to the void itself. The inferno evoked is not infernal in any mythic sense. It is colder than that. Emptied. Mechanical. A padded refrigeration chamber stretching toward a pale, almost infinite center buried deep within a half-dead earth. Time congeals there. Sound ossifies. What remains is the frozen singing of screws against bone, threads against flesh, an industrial cartilage symphony grinding softly in the dark. -Sir Kuliktavikt
