With his third synth baroque album, Frédéric Scarfone, the producer behind Copenhagen synth pop trio Neonsol, reveals his electro-industrial roots by incorporating heavier beats and darker sounds into the classic "Clockwork Orange" sound pioneerd by Wendy Carlos in the 1970s. A remarkably eclectic album, "Der Krawallmeister" (a pun on Bach's job title as Kapellmeister) takes the listener from harpsichord-driven dubstep version of Robert de Visée to a mischievous, stomping, hard electro take on a Bach prelude and from solo classical guitar to foreboding crypt-hop. There is also a hard-hitting remix by electro-industrial veterans Grendel, as well as Frédéric's own (more gentle) remix of a wonderful lute performance by the Polish virtuoso Klaudyna Żołnierek.
