what we have here people is six tracks of songs consisting of music I made off of a tascam portastudio besides one during my final days of high school. please do have a listen, each track is different from the other my personal favorite is track 5
I started working on 'Sublime Lenteur' around October 2024, it was a very grey and cloudy winter full of change and searching, I started doing these long and solitary walks in the woods, just fog, snow, rain, being there with myself, with hopes and sadness and connection and nature falling asleep with the promise of a wonderful return. and this album really became that. the season and my mind state really influenced this more than previous work. A friend called this, if translated into English, the amazing slowness. She hit the nail on the head. I would get back from these walks and directly continue working on an idea, so I was living these really wonderful moments where I had this rare feeling of being able to directly translate something into my work. This bubble of creation. It made me reflect on why I love so much to make sounds, why it means so much to me and what I feel needs to exist in it.
Words have never been my strongest point. I have many ideas in my head, often too many. I can talk a lot about them, but putting them on paper is not really me. I rather just work on my ideas. ‘cause whatever your thoughts are, as soon as it is out there and people start to listen it becomes theirs. What I might have thought up before, and have as concept behind the music, might not be how someone else listens to it. And that’s okay. If we keep in mind that my music is time focused, and I love it when it isn’t polished too much, so small errors become part of it, the music should speak enough for itself. “Continuation” is my first studio album since “En de stilstaande tijd” (2019), and shows a rougher sound staying closer to my live sound. I see this as a continuation of my live performances, though this time with various multi-track recordings brought together as a whole, all done in my home studio “Studio De Baviaan” over the course of 8 months. --- Sietse van Erve / Orphax, January 2026
Three new droning permutations from Michael Baum, suspended somewhere between gravity and evaporation. Heavy, yet untethered. Minimal, yet saturated to the point of quiet collapse. Layers of tone accumulate like slow sediment, forming vast harmonic architectures that seem to breathe on their own. Intervals stretch, fold, and shimmer with a strange, magnetic logic. You don’t listen so much as drift. There is a sense of losing orientation here, like being carried out to sea with no shoreline left to remember. The infinite swell, the patient undertow.
