Asdaa (Arabic: أصداء, pronounced As-daa) is a single release by Sufian Ararah on oud, accompanied by Andreas F. Staffel on piano. In this composition, Sufian reflects on his relationship with the past — his memories of Tripoli, his city, and his connection to places and spaces that are gone and will never return, yet whose echoes can still be heard.
It does not seek traditional harmony, nor rely on abstract imagination, it presents the existence of sound itself. Sounds are constantly interrupted and reorganized between silence and eruption. Each track of the album reflects the absurdity of reality, order and chaos intertwine, meaning is temporarily stripped away, leaving only direct perception and space. This is not a pursuit of beauty, but an observation of existence and absurdity, attempting to render the fragmentation and disorder of everyday life. -Solstice D’hive

In the Bruckner Year 2024 DORNINGER remixed the music of Anton Bruckner and performed it live on September 20, 2024 in the church of St. Severin with 36 Tannoy loudspeakers of different types. This recording is the studio version of it in excerpts. About the project: www.base.at/bruckner-remixed/ In “Die Tragische Remixed” I collage cut-ups from the first two movements of the 8th Symphony. Meandering surfaces that resonate like long echoes of Bruckner are permeated and perforated by samples and original notes, while in “Die Apokalyptische Remixed” Bruckner's original notes meet distorted bass sounds of the now. Similar montage techniques can also be found in “Die Romantische Remixed”. Why is this necessary, isn't Bruckner himself enough? Why this heavy editing, why remix? Three magical words come to mind about Bruckner: Improvisation, innovation and freedom. And that's why this recording ends with a séance (“ DIY Soundtools - Séance with Anton Bruckner”), knowing full well that Anton Bruckner would never make music with such rudimentary circuits in 2024. But he would certainly have quenched his thirst for new sounds in 2024.
