There is, in _seems pointless_ , a reverence for song that is, in some ways, "oldschool." The music here come from the grand singer-songwriter tradition, wherein the songs, if they had been recorded many decades ago, might have been one person with an acoustic guitar. But after Todd Rundgren and Emmitt Rhodes and Paul McCartney, et al. showed that a collection of songs can be written/performed/recorded by the songwriter alone, one person with an acoustic guitar (which can still be an outstanding approach, of course) became less the default approach. RCHRDHRT's _seems pointless_ is quite often one person playing all the instruments--guitars, keyboards, drums--but not always, most notable when violinist Jazzy Letera is on board.
