âme

4 track album, Released October 31, 2026 as free (cc) digital download and in beautiful limited CD edition. "A grand title for an album that spans a wide arc: âme, the French word for “soul,” derives from the Latin anima - which also means “breath” or “a breath of air.” It is this breath one seems to hear in the shimmering sonic textures from which the sounds of this album emerge, textures that underpin its rhythms and melodies. The breath of life as the foundation of all inner motion, of all emotions explored across the album’s four extended tracks, in a constant interplay between tones and noise-based elements. As an ambient symphony addressing existential themes, âme stands alongside electroacoustic large-scale works such as Bernard Parmegiani’s De natura sonorum or Michel Chion’s Requiem. In their first collaborative composition, Julien ASH, aka Nouvelles Lectures Cosmopolites (NLC), and EMERGE arrive at a remarkably complementary division of roles. ASH, the neoclassical composer, orchestrates his melodic arcs in a markedly more “synthetic” manner than on previous albums, where acoustic instruments played a larger role. This electronic sound merges seamlessly with the more abstract “sound recycling” distilled by sound artist EMERGE from ASH’s recordings, giving the album its distinctive “breathing” timbre mentioned above. ... This first joint album by NLC and EMERGE marks the culmination of a collaboration that has developed over several years. NLC has released multiple albums with various partners on attenuation circuit, the label run by EMERGE. For the Mahorka compilation Making Things Happen: Netlabel Day 10th Anniversary Compilation they created an exclusive collaboration track, that marked their premiere in working together with sound. With âme, the two artists now meet for the first time as co-composers on the level of a fully shared artistic work." --Gerald Fiebig [mhrk515]

Tansoku

Surface

This record does not represent a landscape. It listens to it. Frequencies are treated as terrain. Noise as residue. Sound as the result of contact between matter and electricity. What emerges is not music, but a surface being scanned, slowly, imperfectly, without interpretation. - Tansoku

Julien Ash + Philippe Neau

Les allées tourbillonnaires

9 track album, released October 9, 2026 Julien Ash is a French composer, multi-instrumentalists and producer, combining neo-classical music with electronics and many different contemporary genres and collaborating with a wide diversity of artists, always delivering unique examples of good new modern music. He is mostly known with the project NLC (Nouvelles Lectures Cosmopolites), started in July 1989 as a duo with Angustère, then solo after 1990 until a halt in 2007. NLC was reactivated in 2021 as a duo of Julien Ash and Aloïs L., his oldest son. Since then Ash has recorded a lot of new music in a variety of styles, under the NLC project and as Julien Ash, on both with regular and always interesting collaborations, including some interesting ones on Mahorka. Philippe Neau is a visual and sound artist living in France. He states that his paintings and videos show mental landscapes ("mental-scapes"). His music suggests this imaginary landscape made up of non-narrative sounds, atonal melodies, glitches, organic textures, hollow field-recordings, abstract notes, abyssal echoes and whispered distant voices. "Disturbing" atmosphere, tinged brightness and darkness, take shape and enfold "the listener / viewer" in a unique sound and spatial experience. He has been part of Mahorka for more than a decade, since his early Nobodisoundz days, both solo and in very interesting collaborations. "Les allées tourbillonnaires" is a collaborative album of Julien Ash and Philippe Neau that is part of a trilogy. The first release, the "Conjonction Astrale" EP was released in early September 2026 on Kalamine Records: kalaminerecords.bandcamp.com/album/conjonction-astrale The third release, again an EP, is planned on taâlem. WaSm

Twee

WaSm is the duo of Dutchmen Frans de Waard and Jos Smolders, and “Twee” is Dutch for “two”, as this is their second album. The understated matter-of-factness of project name and album title should not obscure the fact that these 'twee' have been major presences in the international experimental music underground, both as editors of Vital magazine (which Frans continues to run) as well as great musicians in their own right. On this album they join forces for seven tracks that could be considered an exhibition of sound sculptures.

Lavatone

Soundtrack For A Sinking Phantom

Soundtrack For A Sinking Phantom is a drone-heavy dark ambient album written as a cinematic score to a ghost ship slowly sinking beneath black water. The album unfolds across five tracks, each representing a deeper stage of descent—metal groaning under pressure, distant machinery fading, and the presence of something that never abandoned the vessel. This is music for isolation, deep water, and empty corridors. released January 16, 2026
