Unforgettable Homelands
353000
As third and fourth generation of Pontic Greeks we have a deep-routed love for our occupied motherland which, unfortunately, has been deprived from us. We always try to remember, and commemorate not only of our 353000 mass murdered ancestors, but also, of the ones that were not given the chance to be born.
We wanted to produce a song for the genocide of Pontic Greeks at the hands of Ottoman Turks. We did this without the use of Pontic lyre, nor by singing in the Pontic dialect, besides, there are many more beautiful songs with these features. Our goal was to make known, one of the most tragic crimes in the modern European history, to those people that don’t know much about it, or have never heard of it.
We present this to you, with respect to the memory of all those lost.
Thanks to : Thanasis Pananakis, Veronica Lahana, Panagiotis Berdenis and Konstantinos Mavropoulos for their invaluable help.
