The Air We Breathe is a collaboration between Australian sound artists Saliatahn (Sergei Tumanov) and Midnight (Eileen Francisco), originally created for Dark Ambient Compilation (Vol. 28) by UK label Sombre Soniks. Emerging now as an independent release, the piece unfolds as a meditation on atmosphere, breath, and presence. Layers of drones, subtle electronics, and shifting textures create a dense yet fragile sound field - hovering between ambient calm and quiet tension. It invites deep listening: headphones on, lights low, attention open. The Air We Breathe gestures toward what we rarely perceive - the air itself, the vibration between silence and sound. For both artists, this collaboration stands as an exploration of subtlety, atmosphere, and the interstitial space between noise and stillness. It resonates within the broader lineage of dark ambient and experimental electronics, yet maintains a distinct voice: intimate, slow-burning, and immersive. Take a breath. Listen closely. The air is never silent.

⫷▩𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐑𝄪𖠺𝄪𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐓▩⫸

It all started when I went to Prague 8 on August 15, 2025, to buy craft beer, specifically 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐓. Stout, Porter, Gose, Sour Beers, Sauna Session IPA, and even the so-called "Prapivo" are among my favorite types of beer. So, on the advice of the salesperson, I bought one 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐓 (type: Imperial Stout) and headed home. ... When I got home, I opened this delicious beer after about six hours, which was 3:56 in the morning. At that time, I was watching the final episode of the series Dexter, and in the background, I was playing with the sounds in my beloved music program ♫. While watching, I started drinking and slowly but surely got drunk, because when it comes to drinking, one strong beer is enough to knock me out, as we linguists say (11.7 %). While drinking, I took out my recorder and started recording the next 6 minutes, during which I said various random things. Just imagine it. You're sitting drunk in a gaming chair at 4:00 a.m., watching Dexter, drinking Imperial Stout, and recording it all on a Zoom H6. On top of that, I mixed and edited all the sounds right away. So, the final track is a pitched, resonated, and reverb recording with the sound of a Czech-dubbed TV series in the background and a strange, crazy, almost bizarrely repetitive beat. The next day, when I came to my senses (after a beer, I might add), I listened to the whole song and still don't know what made me record it and turn it into a "serious" song...

Year 7000, after the Angel of Soot coughed its last cinder into the throat of heaven. The cinema still stood. Not proudly, not even stubbornly, but the way a punctured eye remains in its socket, collapsed yet unwilling to admit blindness. Around it: a confetti of dead futures. Luminous scraps. Atomic dandruff. The pavement whispered underfoot like a nest of thin teeth. Things moved in the alleys, not quite alive, not quite done with dying. No moon. It imploded many centuries ago... Since the great electromagnetic transfiguration, night had become a sealed chamber. Only the gas lamps persisted, dim and jaundiced, like elderly saints refusing extinction. Inside the cinema’s womb, past curtains that exhaled spores of velvet rot, the stage had reopened. The dolls were waiting.
