"What the Earth Could Not Digest"
The second collaboration between profane experimental necrosmiths HELLBERG (Germany) and UgUrGkuliktavikt (Canada) is a spectral split offering two long-form compositions vomited straight from the soil's subconscious.
Opening the ritual, HELLBERG's “Kreuz 78” is a slow, grave drift through the empty corridors of drone, doom and ambient. A crawling procession of shadow and rust, calm yet insistent, like a dying cathedral dreaming itself into mud. Its slow burn lulls the listener into a catatonic, trance-like fog — one both comforting and cursed.
On the flip side, UgUrGkuliktavikt’s “Rite stochastique pour fantombes & cloches tubulaires concassées” unleashes a delirious phantasmagoria: collapsing harmoniums, mutilated bells, field recordings fractured beyond recognition, ghost-voices moaning through a wall of infernal ambient noise. The piece is an abstracted liturgy, a stochastically collapsing funeral rite for things no longer dead.
Was die Erde nicht verdauen konnte (What the Earth Could Not Digest) is not an album — it’s a metaphysical rejection, a regurgitation of memory and matter. A split for those who dream in compost, and hear voices in the roots.
