my first EP, a year and a half in the making. based on the clouds i watch every day. ( [ ◉¯] ⋆°•☁︎⋆ )
sorry for the delay. i had been on a creative block for a while. this album is the filtered tracks of a LOT that i wrote. different from the previous ep, unmarked, and the previous deleted ep (because it was nonsense), clouds feel heavy, i didn't put straight influences in my mind while making it. sure, i had influences- i can name a major one for each song- but it wasn't as much a big deal as it had been. and i think that helped me with the creative block. this ep, i think, is one more step further on my path to indie glory. and another love letter to the things i listen to. "occasionally" is the most unmarked-lite song here. it has got all of the fall breaks stuff- shoegazey guitars (is it a stretch? i will assume not), post-punkish rhythm section, catchy melody... "with your eyes" is a funny song- i had already decided it was rubbish and was going to leave it rotting in my hard drive, until i found myself singing it. countless times. it is catchy as hell. i had to leave it in. you people can tell me what you think about it. i MEAN that. send me an e-mail: [email protected] feedback is always good. so are other e-mail subjects. "somehow" was my attempt at a "velocity girl" / "what you do to me" type of song. you gotta love an economic pop song. and "everybody knows i've gotta grow up", as i discuss further in the individual description, is inspired by acoustic radio session bootlegs from the late 90s, from artists such as noel gallagher and richard ashcroft (okay, primarily these two). i hope it was worth the wait. not just your wait, but my wait. i missed fall breaks, man.
The allegorical donkey in the lion's skin, but it's a bear that wants to be an eagle that wants to be a bear... who cried wolf. A short anthology of socio-geo-political musical takes meant to help me cathartically tackle the most recent world changing events of the last 10 years.
This track I wrote shortly after watching Superman last year in theatres. That movie was awesome easily in my top 3 of best super hero films. But the needle drop at the end really got me. Punkrocker by Iggypop and the teddybears. Made me want to make my own song similar in that matter, sort of that small victory feeling like a huge win and a theme of self discovery. As well as being content/happy with life despite everything. And so, a year later I finally finished it. Originally, I had a saw wave for the lead melody, but honestly I chose against it last minute, just EQing it with everything, it clashed against the rest of the track. Then with the frutiger aero aspect, felt like it was the perfect vibe/aesthetic to pair with it, which you can see in the lyrics and a little bit of the sound design.
welcome to 'safe space', an EP contemplating loss, moss and acceptance. a collection of lo-fi but lush songs about coming to terms with yourself and reclaiming your voice through making peace with your circumstances and submitting yourself to the unknown.
I thought "Everybody Goes" was dead, but it turned out to be the only way to start this. It's a lot of noise, a Big Star melody and a solo that worked by accident. Oh yeah, and the intro is lifted off "Taxman." I thought it would be too sudden to just start the song. The rest is just me trying to write the kind of jangle pop I actually want to hear. "Broadly Speaking" is my personal little pastiche of 80s indie pop and post-punk. I should probably have released it under Sarah Records. "Trainwrecks & Tambourines" has a keyboard orchestra because I was listening to too much Zombies, and the vocals are what they are. People say "Song for Brian" sounds like C86 or Gerard Love but I actually just think it’s the first time I got the production right. The lyrics to this one are particularly special--it's an homage to my musical idol, Brian Wilson, and I tried to encapsulate what his songs make me feel in my very own song. As for the EP, it's a bit meaner than the twee stuff, maybe a bit more shoegazey, but I'm still just drinking from the same well as everyone else.
3 track EP. Flora was created from an amalgamation of short literary fiction novellas that I decided to write one day. After about a year of writing these books and loving the characters I made, I unfortunately lost these books, characters and worlds with no way to get them back. So, in their honour I decided to release these 3 songs.

“Segunda Mano” is the second release from La Mano de Cervantes, a band-persona of uncertain origin. Ten slices of straightforward power pop, unpretentious and direct, following in the footsteps of their debut, “De Primera Mano.” Drawing mainly from early R.E.M. and The Wedding Present, with touches of The Smiths and Suede, the band occasionally ventures further afield: exploring psychedelia (“Hyperion,” inspired by the work of the recently deceased Dan Simmons), electronics (“Botella de Champán”), and even paying tribute to El Último de la Fila in the song of the same name. All delivered with a firmly underground ethos: self-produced and self-managed, with no grand plans beyond continuing to write songs. La Mano de Cervantes, music to simply enjoy.

"East of Eden" is som som’s take on recession pop - yep, it’s got acoustic strumming, a house beat, and even whistling. But underneath the shiny euro-pop production is a hint of restlessness and anxiety that makes the contrast pop. You can’t tell if it’s the beginning or the end of the world, but either way, we’re dancing through it.
