the 4th chapter of the OST series. dreamcore. the poolrooms. weirdcore. and the backrooms. all pulled this sense of nostalgia and connection i've been missing for a long time. dreamy nostalgia and tongue-in-cheek eerie pairs well and connects all the themes in a satisfying way. it always made me feel at home in some weird way, which inspired this series. and yet here we end with dreamcore. another fun internet created aesthetic that pulls from such a vulnerable and innocent place. this album has aimed to capture that feeling in somewhat of a love letter to the better times and nostalgia. when everything seemed simple, new and fantastical. you can always return to the past but no one will be there.
"Heated to a tropical 29.5°C all year round, our Subtropical Swimming Paradise is perfect for family fun, whatever the weather." Paradise (1994-2022) is my second EP under restless pines, and it takes a trip to a specific place i treasure at center parcs - the Subtropical Swimming Paradise. under a glass dome, the Swimming Paradise is a place to forget your troubles. the elated screams of children bounce off the glass dome, as they careen down waterslides or meander around the wave pool, while a parent sneaks away to the hot, bubbly pool while the other takes a jittery child down the rapids. it's another world, and i try to capture it within this EP. i hope you enjoy, and i hope it scratches a place in your mind you forgot about. — autumn willow
