Modern Stone Age is a two-track release built around the tension between primitive impulse and hi-tech form. syntrovert returns to Terminal, taking the groove into a raw, mental zone: minimal tools, pushed with intent. Primitive Tek runs hot, traveling through hi-tech landscapes with classic psytrance-minded sound design, tribal drive, and a groove that pushes forward without losing the swing. Modern Stone Age drops into repetition and weight, like drums and mantras trapped in concrete caves, techno prehistories. Two tempos, same idea. The title works two ways: it points to a return to a raw, minimal sound, while reflecting on how regressive modern society has become.
This is a tune whose first version (with a sharp kickdrum and an annoying robotic voice) I once wrote in Reason while feeling down due to some not-so-pleasant events in my life, and I rushed to post it on SoundCloud. I later used this track to practice mixing techniques, periodically coming back to try out new tricks and either improving the sound or making it worse, haha. In 2022, I revisited it once again (and got rid of the robot), and this is the version that’s now posted here. At the moment I'm recreating this tune in Ableton Live. Techno / Electro / Progressive versions are on the way, I'm going to add them here in the future.
