Shutter Memoriae

The Remakquels return with their fourth album, Shutter Memoriae. A 12-track soundtrack for a cinepoem, assembled the way Hockney built his photographic joiners: fragment by fragment, seams left showing. It begins with a hundred eyes, one moment, never the whole picture – the lens turns inwards: zooming until the face becomes grain, the grain becomes star, the star connects the dark.

Mantris

Echoes Of The Silver Screen

13 track album, released April 19, 2026 Mantris first shared music with the world around three decades ago as the driving force, together with Christoph Waelkens, behind house outfits The Black Sun and Brown Hardware Inc. with early 90s releases on cult label Elektron. A productive music career was forecasted, but Mantris then vanished into thin air, until early 2020s when new solo studio productions by Mantris started to happen... "Echoes Of The Silver Screen" is his second album coming out on the label. Its story, although separate, is related to that of the first one and other Mantris works created in the same period after COVID hit in 2021 and his daily life totally changed without a job for a year. During that time, he poured himself into music and recorded 1 EP (which he is currently reworking) and 4 albums, including the two on Mahorka, of which "Echoes Of The Silver Screen" is the last to be completed. That same year 2021 he was looking into the idea of writing music for motion picture productions. He cold-emailed an Indian director based in New York regarding possible collaboration who replied that he was shooting a thriller short film and needed proper background music for a scene. Mantris whipped something up, and he loved it. It was his first time doing anything like that. The short film's working title was "Hummingbird", and, notably the Mantris track for it also included hummingbird sounds. Although he never heard back from the director and, apparently, that film was never released, this work inspired him to explore further this musical direction. The end result is "Echoes Of The Silver Screen", where you can also recognize the reworked soundtrack by the hummingbird sounds still there. [mhrk489]

Ermanno Novali

Replace/React

Replace/React is an electronic music album that recreates imaginary soundscapes using field recordings captured directly by the musician. Each track is built from sounds gathered in the same moment and location, preserving the authenticity and uniqueness of the original audio material. Through improvisation, these sounds are processed and reshaped into entirely new sonic landscapes, inspired solely by the original recordings, with no additional external sounds. The result is a series of “alien” soundscapes that remain deeply connected to their origins: organic matter meets synthesis and transforms into new matter. “Replace” represents the sonic transfiguration that re-places the sounds into new environments; “React” is the instant reaction to those sounds, a key aspect of both the album’s creative process and the artist’s overall approach to improvisation. credits released May 16, 2025 Field recordings, composition and production: Ermanno Novali Mix & Mastering: Ermanno Novali – January/February 2025, SoPra Studio (Milan) Artwork and cover photo: Ermanno Novali Press photos: Mario Rota Cover photo taken with a Samsung Galaxy S2 and recovered from a damaged memory card.

Mitsukurina

Doc No returns with “Mitsukurina,” channeling the abyssal depths on this deep sea modular synth exploration. Taking its name from the goblin shark’s scientific genus, the track echoes the quiet menace of this rare deep-sea predator - the last surviving member of a 125-million-year-old lineage.
