later, the event would be described as a global synapse shutdown. there was no panic, no chaos, no dramatic destruction. it was simply a sudden pause in human awareness, as if the world had been set into a quiet suspension.
the duration was unclear. clocks continued to count seconds, but without observers, the passing of time felt abstract. eventually, people woke up where they had been when it happened. they rose slowly, confused but unharmed, unsure whether minutes or days had passed.
