NLC + EMERGE

"A grand title for an album that spans a wide arc: âme, the French word for “soul,” derives from the Latin anima - which also means “breath” or “a breath of air.” It is this breath one seems to hear in the shimmering sonic textures from which the sounds of this album emerge, textures that underpin its rhythms and melodies. The breath of life as the foundation of all inner motion, of all emotions explored across the album’s four extended tracks, in a constant interplay between tones and noise-based elements. As an ambient symphony addressing existential themes, âme stands alongside electroacoustic large-scale works such as Bernard Parmegiani’s De natura sonorum or Michel Chion’s Requiem. In their first collaborative composition, Julien ASH, aka Nouvelles Lectures Cosmopolites (NLC), and EMERGE arrive at a remarkably complementary division of roles. ASH, the neoclassical composer, orchestrates his melodic arcs in a markedly more “synthetic” manner than on previous albums, where acoustic instruments played a larger role. This electronic sound merges seamlessly with the more abstract “sound recycling” distilled by sound artist EMERGE from ASH’s recordings, giving the album its distinctive “breathing” timbre mentioned above. ... Marcin Lasek + rsn

2 track album, released October 23, 2026 “Plone/None” marks the first collaboration between Marcin Lasek and rsn. The album brings together the distinctive soundscapes of both artists into a focused journey through slowly flowing drone landscapes and finely nuanced ambient textures. Divided into two extended long-form compositions, the music unfolds in a continuous process of condensation and dissolution, in which minimal changes, floating resonances and organic layers of sound determine the course. The collaboration combines Lasek’s penchant for atmospheric, electroacoustic soundscapes with rsn’s deep, resonant drones, creating a state between movement and stillness, light and shadow, presence and absence. “Plone/None” invites the listener to perceive time from a different perspective and to immerse themselves fully in the subtle developments within the soundscapes – an album for attentive, immersive listening and the exploration of the interstices of the audible. Julien Ash + Philippe Neau

9 track album, released October 9, 2026 Julien Ash is a French composer, multi-instrumentalists and producer, combining neo-classical music with electronics and many different contemporary genres and collaborating with a wide diversity of artists, always delivering unique examples of good new modern music. He is mostly known with the project NLC (Nouvelles Lectures Cosmopolites), started in July 1989 as a duo with Angustère, then solo after 1990 until a halt in 2007. NLC was reactivated in 2021 as a duo of Julien Ash and Aloïs L., his oldest son. Since then Ash has recorded a lot of new music in a variety of styles, under the NLC project and as Julien Ash, on both with regular and always interesting collaborations, including some interesting ones on Mahorka. Philippe Neau is a visual and sound artist living in France. He states that his paintings and videos show mental landscapes ("mental-scapes"). His music suggests this imaginary landscape made up of non-narrative sounds, atonal melodies, glitches, organic textures, hollow field-recordings, abstract notes, abyssal echoes and whispered distant voices. "Disturbing" atmosphere, tinged brightness and darkness, take shape and enfold "the listener / viewer" in a unique sound and spatial experience. He has been part of Mahorka for more than a decade, since his early Nobodisoundz days, both solo and in very interesting collaborations. "Les allées tourbillonnaires" is a collaborative album of Julien Ash and Philippe Neau that is part of a trilogy. People try to escape them by building flourishing civilizations, nurturing the illusion of herd safety while cultivating the poisonous fruits of murder and violence for the sake of peace and prosperity. And within these fruits, the seeds have already ripened: cold, hunger, pain, and fear! It doesn't matter the age, continent, civilization, morality, or people - what goes around comes around! Without death, there is no life, and without darkness, there is no light. 45.45 minutes of a track, organically coherent and composed over six months, using dozens of synthesis, sampling, and sound processing techniques invented by humanity for art. Not a single second is repeated; there is no foundation, logic, or meaning, but there is a common, holistic structure and concept, just like in the history of humanity, from the earliest hominids to quantum physics. The thunder of war drums ends with a shepherd's flute, the blow of a club to the skull turns into a lullaby, the cries of widows into a radio picnic program, loud laughter in reels into the silence of the closed lips of a child's corpse in a concentration camp. The most important thing to remember when listening is that while the music plays, everything dies: from cold, hunger, pain, and fear, and soon your turn will surely come to become a new sacrifice for the light and the world, for the sake of new life and death! PASTORAL

9 track album, released September 18, 2026 as free (cc) digital download and in beautiful limited CD edition. PASTORAL is a French-Belgian ambient music and visual arts duo associated with the Transcultures center, founded in 2010 by Christophe Bailleau (French musician and visual artist) and Philippe Franck (sound artist, critic, and founder of Transcultures). The duo's artistic style is a blend of ambient, post-folk electronica, and post-rock, combining ethereal or earthy sound textures, impressionistic melodies, video projections, and poetic texts. Their debut album "L’échappée belle" was released in 2019 by the Transonic label (produced by Transcultures) together with a book of diptychs pairing color photographs by Christophe Bailleau with poetic fragments by Philippe Franck. The duo's final project "Suspended Night" was left unfinished before Philippe Franck's death in 2025. It was resumed and completed in 2026 by Christophe Bailleau in collaboration with Transonic and Mahorka. "This is the last PASTORAL album. PASTORAL was a door to an open world.
