Blood Rhythms

Blood Rhythms is the ongoing collaborative "umbrella moniker" for Arvo Zylo. The unit initially began by arranging live performances of untrained noise artists, who made a blaring racket with whatever horns were around, and called it a "brass ensemble". Blood Rhythms officially debuted in 2010 with Zylo enlisting the entire "avant industrial gospel" band ONO to create layers of noise and vocals with him. Live performances became more of an entourage, which went from drone-like, noisy ambient sets to incorporating scrap metal, power tools, synthesizers, power electronics, and several drummers. Since 2010, Blood Rhythms discography has been relatively spare, and occasionally somewhat intensive. "Assembly" is an LP by Blood Rhythms which was co-released between Zylo's NO PART OF IT label and RRRECORDS. This record is based off of the manipulation of brass and wind recorded in a meat locker. Each LP cover was handmade from recycled materials by Arvo Zylo and Ron Lessard (Emil Beaulieau). "Civil War" is an LP by Blood Rhythms which initially came with a 44 page art book and a gatefold cover. It reflects studio versions of live vocal performances by Blood Rhythms from 2010 to 2016. It features artists from Europe as well as the USA, and incorporates studio recordings with Zylo that were done in Texas, Ohio, and Chicago. Post-pandemic, Blood Rhythms has evolved to be something like a remote collective of mail collaborations, with exception to Justin Lazar, who collaborated with Arvo Zylo in person.

Little Fyodor

Little Fyodor (pronounced "fee-ah-dor", a tribute to Dostoevsky!) first hatched into existence in 1981 when college friend Evan Cantor (whom LF had turned onto this Dostoevsky) called him that after the former showed the latter the former's song lyrics which reminded the latter of Dostoevskian characters who "couldn't even get any joy out of their own evil"!! LF solo work was back burnered as the two forged ahead with experimental DIY cassette networking project Walls Of Genius, releasing 30 cassette tapes in three years (1983 to 1986) and becoming prominent enough in this Underground to warrant mentions in books like "Unknown Legends of Rock 'n' Roll" and "Cassette Culture: Homemade Music and the Creative Spirit in the Pre-Internet Age" before the usual band broo-ha-ha led to a breakup and LF going solo.... LF soon met Babushka who took pity on him and formed with him a weirdo rock 'n' roll duo that toured the world and was later joined by the powerhouse rhythm section of Dave Cee and Tricky Dick Wikkit. Several EP through full length studio albums have been released either by Little Fyodor or Little Fyodor & Babushka on various formats and labels plus a live album recorded at a Church Of the Subgenius's X-Day gathering. Little Fyodor writes songs that reflect the alienated under-belly of modern life, wed to music that may alternate or tread the line between experimental and classic punk. Little Fyodor also spent 30 years as a radio deejay on KGNU, Boulder, presenting a show called "Under the Floorboards" featuring music for and by the Insects of Society....

"It has been 2 months since Eric, one of my best friends, mentors, and member of my soul family committed suicide. In the weeks since his passing, I have written “Fulcrum”, an album to work through my grief. The songs appear on the album in the order that I wrote them. Each song reflects a certain stage in my process of accepting and understanding his death- the moments the separation is unbearable, the times when I feel more connected to him then ever, and the spiritual lessons I have been learning since he returned to source. Eric was a prolific healer and he taught me how to hone my own skills as a healer. He was always there for me through the best and worst times. He saw me as I am and encouraged my self expression. We held mirrors up to each other. We communicated telepathically. The connection we shared was rare and unconditional. This album is my final gift to him, a token of gratitude for his presence in my life over the years."

Dave Fuglewicz & Michael Thomas Jackson / Blood Rhythms

Dave Fuglewicz's work has been reissued on the NO PART OF IT label before, if only for additional posterity, in particular the "Selected Works 1990-1997" collection. Michael Thomas Jackson is also known under the project name "Cephalic Index". "The Sky Is Glowing" was arranged in 2012. Here is what Fuglewicz had to say: "At the end of 2011, Michael Thomas Jackson sent me a CD of source files he had made (titled "Moog and turntable, Nov and Dec 2011") for me to use as I saw fit. It was an unexpected but pleasant surprise, BIG thanks to Michael for this. I finally started working with the files a couple weeks ago, completing this first piece; "The Sky Is Glowing" of what will be a full release. FYI: I consider a full release to be about sixty minutes in length. I only used the files Michael sent me on this, modifying, editing and blendarizing them into the final form posted here. I hope you enjoy it. Veteran home taper and experimental recording artist Dave Fuglewicz passed on in 2021, but left a good deal of his work archived with a creative commons license.
