An auditory tale of isolated life, surrounded by Winter darkness, biting cold, daily difficulties, the battle that the body and moreso the mind must survive, as well as the catharsis of the other side. 1. Hornstrandir 2. Oymyakon 3. Longyearbyen 4. Ittoqqortoormiit 5. Kerguelen 6. Iqaluit Each song is named after incredibly remote towns and cities (in Iceland, Russia, Norway, Greenland, Antarctic and Canada) that have extreme low temperatures (Oymyakon has reports of -90!), and is about just how much the human spirit can endure. Of course, the topic of hibernation and isolation applies to people in less severe climates, and all year round as well, as the battle in the mind can take you to some severely cold places, especially thinking of what the world is enduring at the moment. There is always a hope to push through to the other side of the struggle, and achieve catharsis, new strength for mind and body. released March 20, 2021 - Bass, piano, vocals, drums, cover photo, words, mix and master by The Owl. When there feels like no relent of the overwhelming sadness... When it feels like everything is disintegrating.... When the internal noise is at its highest... You can always find the final joule of fortitude. Every year gets harder as it gets easier. This is the soundtrack of my mind in these times.
