Second Brain

Rome

Originally conceived as a solo project by Agravain, Second Brain offers an eclectic yet classically powerful approach to melodic thrash/death metal, drawing on influences ranging from progressive rock to electronica. With the addition of co-vocalist Lala Gabarth, Second Brain released their debut album, Synthesis, in 2014. The line-up expanded the following year with bassist Anagoor and Mishu on drums, and the band performed shows in Italy until 2018. Their well-received second full-length album, The Mind Awakes, was released in January 2020. After a three-year break, Agravain, Gabarth and Anagoor relaunched the band as a trio in late 2023. This culminated in the recording of Blackshine. On this latest album, Second Brain boldly fuses thrash and death metal riffs with progressive elements and dark melodies. Lyrically, the album explores the seemingly dichotomous nature of reality. Alex Ecker handled the mixing and mastering at Pearlsound Studios in Germany. The cover artwork was once again designed by renowned international artist Costin Chioreanu.
