by Vlor
Vlor originally formed in the early 1990s as a typical high school alternative band of the era (though doing covers of Bauhaus & The Cure instead of Nirvana & Pearl Jam). It's second incarnation a few years later was shoegaze built around acoustic guitars with members Brian John Mitchell & Russell Halasz. The current incarnation started in 2006 & has been a series of long distance collaborations with Mitchell sharing minimalist song structures to be built up by friends. Rise Together started with Mitchell collaborating with Jesse Gray (Dead Man's Tuning) & Philip Polk Palmer for a Remora piece on a shoegaze compilation, but in the end the piece ("My Great Mistake") transformed not to really fit as shoegaze nor a Remora song & the ball started rolling with various song ideas & bringing other collaborators into the mix. Darin DePaolo (Unspeakable Forces), Jim DeJong (The Infant Cycle, The Sand Rays), Andy N (Ocean In A Bottle), Elliot Adams Palmer, Shaun Sandor (Promute), Nic Slaton (slicnaton), & Evgeny Zheyda (Thorn1) filled out the project for a mix of cinematic experimental post punk. Zone out & imagine the unmade film this was meant to score.
