Akinori Saito

Based in Kanagawa, the rising young house/jungle/ambient producer “akinori saito”. Influenced by 1990s-2010s game music, new age, and Frutiger Aero, comes to Sweet Chunk with a new concept EP providing his sound within the context of a cyberpunk love story. "This album tells the story of a girl living in Shibuya, racing through a fluid inner world made of her own nerves and electronic circuits, driven forward by nothing but her impulses. The city is always drowned in noise, neon, and damp air that clings to her skin. Yet inside her, a different rhythm moves. A network of circuits shifts like water, and electrical signals pulse like living creatures, bending into blue arcs that lead her forward— synchronized with the lights of the city, pulling her toward places she can't name. Loneliness breathes quietly near the core of who she is. It isn't fear or pain; it settles inside her as a cold calm, a state that steadies her. In those moments when no one touches her, her breathing gets lighter. Somewhere behind Shibuya's chaotic surface, she moves through the highway of her inner world more freely than anywhere else. Soft as water, sharp as the speed of the city— each time she cuts through these fluid nerve-paths, she slips deeper into herself and toward an unpredictable future. This drive is not an escape. It is the raw, textured breath of emotion and curiosity that pushes her forward and keeps her alive."

The Geese at Astra Zeneca

The Geese at Astra Zeneca, abbreviated as "TGAAZ" for apparent copyright reasons, is a collaboration between Rodney Carpenter (of The OT X-TET) and Henry (of Mahatma X/MADDOGG/SCRAN), as well as frequent collaborator Darian Smith. The name might seem odd, but it references a literal gaggle of geese that live, work, and play on the grounds of the AstraZeneca pharmaceutical campus situated just outside the proverbial bastion of boredom that is Wilmington, Delaware. Visible from I-95, Henry would travel weekly between the group's Sweet Chunk HQ in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland, looking outside his car window to see this regular cast of characters. Rain or shine, they would be there, always seeming to live without a care in the world, completely oblivious to the looming logo of corporate misery they've chosen as their home. Their first album, "TGAAZ at AZZ," is the product of a single, 3-hour improvised session recorded with one microphone in the living area of their Philadelphia warehouse in the summer of 2022. Afterwards, MALK took this recording and isolated, reworked, and expanded it to create 13 off-kilter experiments. Sitting somewhere between free jazz, instrumental hip-hop, and perhaps some punk, "TGAAZ at AZZ" is a frantic, challenging approach to the intersection of jazz and beat tapes - yet it's spoken with a playful, familiar lexicon. A sequel to his 2018 album 'WE BELONG UNDERGROUND', the work speaks like a collection of dusty, played-out house, jungle, and club twelve inches resurfaced in a warehouse that were never-before-released digitally. Some songs might sound recognizable, some not, but all have been altered and composed with what has become his detached sound. Broken Casio keyboards, a veneer of nostalgia, and tongue-in-cheek samples litter the vignettes in a way that can be interpreted as both a celebration and a critique of rave culture past and present.

Baychimo

Probably the best PlayStation/Sega/Low Poly (whatever you want to call it) drum n bass we've ever heard. Baychimo comes to us with a tribute to many of his favorite childhood games, like Tomb Raider, Tekken, Bomberman Hero, Ape Escape, demo discs, and more. Outside of his 'Baychimo' alias, Frederik Sass Meyer is a Danish composer and music producer renowned for his diverse expertise in film scoring, sound design, music for TV commercials, electronic music, and commercial songwriting. Frederik graduated from The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark, where he finished his master's in electronic music composition and refined his understanding of music, composition techniques, and sound engineering, and overall improved his skills as a composer and musician. One notable achievement in Frederik’s career was his involvement in the award-winning short documentary, “The Gallerist,” as well as the short documentary “Safe Here.” Somebody give this man a game to score!!!
