Ghosts of the Way
The Waxidermist
Ghosts of the Way draws a lo-fi hip-hop fresco, haunted by echoes of the past and the fragile beauty of an imagined Japan. Each track is a step along the forgotten path of a legendary samurai, returned from the mists of time.
Carried by organic textures, a zen spirit, and analog-tinged grooves, the project unfolds like a moving meditation. The Waxidermist crafts a contemplative and cinematic journey, inspired by lo-fi, instrumental hip-hop, and film scores alike.
Special guests join this inner quest between dust and light: Jesus Crise (scratches), RacecaR and Zenover (MCs), N’Zeng (flugelhorn), and Matthieu Detton (cello).
Previously released chapters — The Myth, Lost Sword, The Hero Returns, and Walk Until… — already outlined a haunted world of lost blades, distant memories, and moonlit wandering. Ghosts of the Way now brings all the pieces together into one single story.
The Waxidermist is a French beatmaker and bassist. He creates his beats from samples, vinyl records and sounds which he collects, cuts and folds himself. Like a samurai he has one path and this is to find the ultimate sample.
The Waxidermist traces a hip hop musical journey between manga, comic books and imaginary movie soundtrack influenced by ancient Japan
