Recorded in a single session using shortwave numbers station recordings, our own field recordings, a synth, a Nintendo 3DS, and a telephone pickup coil. Both tracks were recorded live to a single channel, with no subsequent production or overdubs. The EP is, in part, an homage to numbers stations: mysterious shortwave broadcasts of numbers, words, and letters, generally associated with coded intelligence communications. Many have operated for decades; some continue broadcasting to this day. The cassette edition adds another layer of analog noise thanks to the (im)perfections of the medium, and is our preferred way of listening to these tracks. If you have the digital version, we recommend recording it onto cassette yourself.
