This journey comes to an end: third and final chapter of this love letter to the argentinian radio, covering the '80s! A decade that saw the people getting free from the dictatorship, but also, hand in hand with the return of democracy, felt the presence of new genres: heavy metal, punk and 'música divertida' (our take in new wave), along with the first recognitions of what will be the stars of the next decade, cuarteto and cumbia. Of course, the ghost of the military is still there, but being free is also the right to enjoy yourself and laugh hard with a new language of the modern radio shows that broke the traditions of seriousness in transmissions. Revolution in radio is complete... ¿can you feel it? ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Este viaje llega a su final: tercer y último capítulo de esta carta de amor a la radio argentina, ¡cubriendo los '80! Una década que vio al pueblo liberarse de la dictadura, pero también, de la mano con el regreso de la democracia, sentir la presencia de nuevos géneros: heavy metal, punk y 'música divertida' (nuestra forma de new wave), junto con los primeros reconocimientos de lo que serían las estrellas de la próxima década, el cuarteto y la cumbia. Por supuesto, el fantasma de los milicos todavía está ahí, pero ser libre es también el derecho de divertirte y reírte fuerte con un nuevo lenguaje de los modernos programas de radio que rompieron la tradición de la seriedad en las transmisiones. La revolución en la radio está completa... ¿podés sentirlo?

Second chapter of a love letter to argentinian radio, from the view of the chaotic '70s: a time where dictatorships, a brief period of democracy, pop, rock, musical traditions, disco, night life and death by day went interspersed. Can something be truly enjoyed when human existence is threatened at all times, even if is your right to live a normal life? This is some sort of an answer: dance, sing, cry, kiss... as long as it is possible. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Segundo capítulo de una carta de amor a la radio argentina, desde la perspectiva de los caóticos '70: un tiempo donde las dictaduras, un breve período democrático, el pop, el rock, las tradiciones musicales, la disco, la vida nocturna y la muerte durante el día se sucedieron de manera entremezclada. ¿Puede algo ser realmente disfrutado cuando la existencia humana está amenazada en todo momento, incluso si es tu derecho el vivir una vida normal? Esta es una especie de respuesta: bailá, cantá, llorá, besá... mientras sea posible.

First chapter of a love letter to argentinian radio, in a time where tradition and modernity in music and arts were converging, resulting in an interesting revival of genres like folclore and tango, but also paving the way for new ways of making those melodies hand in hand with the emergence of rock, progressive jazz and psychedelic pop. Music and radio shows were also showing a society clashing within itself: old family values and conservative views against the hippie rebellion, standard pop formats against avant-gardism, intolerant politicians and dictatorships against working people claiming for their rights. Cities and their sound would not be the same ever again. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Primer capítulo de una carta de amor a la radio argentina, en un momento donde la tradición y la modernidad en la música y las artes estaban convergiendo, resultando en un interesante resurgir de géneros como el folclore y el tango, pero además haciendo lugar a nuevas formas de interpretar esas melodías de la mano con la aparición del rock, el jazz progresivo y el pop psicodélico. La música y los programas de radio también mostraban una sociedad chocando consigo misma: viejos valores de familia y perspectivas conservadoras contra la rebelión hippie, formatos estándar de pop contra el vanguardismo, políticos intolerantes y dictaduras contra trabajadores reclamando sus derechos. Las ciudades y su sonido no serían las mismas nunca más.
