hidden in plain sight is my fifth EP. inspired by a trip to an eerily liminal shopping centre after dark, and heavily featuring field recordings captured with a portable mic clipped to my jeans, this EP is one of my most hands-on releases yet. this EP was created over the course of three hours. i don't claim it's my best, but it's definitely not my worst, either. i hope somehow it blends the best of my previous attempts at field recordings with the best of my initial EPs. i thought it was nearly done, then i reworked multiple tracks because it didn't feel quite right. i hope it paid off. i had a lot of fun on this late-night trip, and i hope you enjoy listening to it. i would love to release an album this year or next, and i think i should start conceptualising that. but regardless, this is a wonderful return to form. love, autumn willow x
The year is 666 AAI (After AI) and somehow I’m still alive. Under the moonlight, I lead the District 6 band of humans on copper scavenging missions so we can melt it down for instruments. We brave predator drones patrolling scrap metal wastelands and haul our loot back to the forge. As we pass a billionaire spaceship crash site, our drummer bangs out a breakbeat rhythm on the trashcan she repurposed as a shield. Sal joins in on the didgeridoo and then our bard beatboxes. The reflection of the full moon off the spaceship creates a mesmerizing pattern on the ground, I imagine this is the effect disco balls had when clubs were still around. I tell the band that we'll set up camp here. Tonight we’re gonna Get Funky. ~ Adam C-4’s “Get Funky” is a delightfully dark and playful club-ready tune that checks all of the boxes for the "secret weapon" folder on your USB. LFO-guided bassline undulations set the stage and are soon joined by syncopated percussion, intoxicating acid synths embellished by a shimmering lead, and the grounding broken beat of Adam C-4’s kick drum. The intensity increases as irresistible 2-step drum programming, tastefully processed vocals, and a memorable, eclectic range of synthesizer sounds coalesce into catharsis. The American Mind cannot comprehend Jimothy Lacoste. Someone thriving so far beyond the cold, deathly grip of Cringe — that grip we both fear and perpetually find ourselves squeezed so tightly within. Never have we ever seent a lad so curiously comfortable in his own skinsuit — often fitted in the elite designer labels of Western Europe. Inscrutable, genteel, tidy and erotic. Jimothy’s eloquent diction is employed to promote a tempered relationship with recreational drugs. To flex his proper hydration. Flex his regular nights of restful sleep. Flex being bilingual. How can it be that these british raps — these preppy, sedative econo-house raps — can be both so measured and so free? We want to call it novelty. We want to call it slight. But it’s so utterly deadpan, dandy and goddamn dapper we can’t come up with an adjective that lands. We can only gawk. And look, there he is now: Jimothy busting sick little pop-n-lock moves on the 'The Tube' under the indifferent eyes of businessmen and construction workers alike. This guy never gives a knowing, ironic wink. Life just keeps on getting quite excitinger and excitinger. Pimp strut smoothed by a Burberry trench. Laptop-Pop wafting on a spritz of Dior Sauvage. ‘Selected Works of Jimothy Lacoste’ is a survey of nearly a decade’s worth of Jimothy’s relentless and independent Internet output. It’s a crowning achievement in the limited edition vinyl format and for British-American relations in the 21st Century.
