If Jay Sound, Herbie Hancock, John Carpenter, Software & Tim Truman made an album together, Neon Vice would be their brain child. Back with a full length album since 2022’s “HEAT” & “HOME”, Neon Vice coming on album 6 is Jays most politically charged body of work since his 2020 EP “Heal”. As Jay states “Iv been watching on as this nation literally eats it self alive from the inside out, from circus elections, to funding genocides, continued lynchings of Black Americans, silence from Non Black people who continue to profit off Black American Culture, school shootings steadily going up, the unhousing crisis, to societal hypocrisy. I felt this rage inside I haven’t felt in a long time & instead of being destructive I choose to turn all my thoughts & feelings into this.” Tapping back into the 80s zeitgeist on the political nature of social & injustice issues from The Crack Epidemic, War On Drugs, The Reagan Era. To making parallels to current issues that impact humanity on both systemic & interpersonal level, to provoke thought that many things that have happened In the past are still happening today & impacting us rather we wish to see or not. This album is not one that was created to make its listeners feel "comfortable" by any stretch, we can feel Jays justified anger, even if it’s displayed in a very artistic fashion musically & sonically. Once again stating that anything Black is political because of the historic nature of what it means to be Black. Neon Vice is meant to disrupt the status quo & sound great doing it for decades to come.
