Synthabsentia

Dorian Dream is a project built from a single, unpolished moment. The entire piece is derived from one recording made on my Samsung Galaxy A13 in my living room, lasting exactly 4 minutes and 25 seconds. Pure guitar improv on a Valencia classical guitar. No studio, no retakes, no refinement. The additional guitar layers, all the bass and everything comes from that one recording. The second song is thirty-three minutes and twelve seconds, but yet it's also made from that very same source. Just a phone, a guitar, and a room being a room. The guitar playing isn’t technically good, and the recording quality is pretty terrible. There’s noise, uneven dynamics, and the kind of flaws that would normally be edited out or discarded completely. Instead of fighting those limitations, I embrace them, in the spirit of Synthabsentia. The imperfections become part of the texture and the atmosphere and it all turned out ok in the end. The song is in Dorian A (according to my guitar, which is out of tune).

The One Sample is a study in limitation, patience, and texture. The entire album is built from a single 16-second recording of an open A guitar string, slightly detuned, captured in my living room, played on a Valencia classical guitar... No additional instruments. No external samples. A quiet clock ticks in the background, grounding the music in real time and physical space. The air conditioning was turned off to preserve the room’s natural acoustics, and the recording was made on a Samsung Galaxy A13. Through heavy transformation, resampling, and layering, the original string is stretched, fractured, and reassembled into evolving textures and atmospheres. What begins as a single vibration becomes an entire sonic ecosystem. This album was created as a self-imposed challenge: to see how much depth, emotion, and variation could be drawn from almost nothing. The One Sample is less about minimalism for its own sake, and more about listening closely—finding complexity inside constraint. credits released January 1, 2026 Everything: JTS
