Dorian Dream

Dorian Dream is a project built from a single, unpolished moment. The entire piece is derived from one recording made on my Samsung Galaxy A13 in my living room, lasting exactly 4 minutes and 25 seconds. Pure guitar improv on a Valencia classical guitar. No studio, no retakes, no refinement. The additional guitar layers, all the bass and everything comes from that one recording. The second song is thirty-three minutes and twelve seconds, but yet it's also made from that very same source. Just a phone, a guitar, and a room being a room. The guitar playing isn’t technically good, and the recording quality is pretty terrible. There’s noise, uneven dynamics, and the kind of flaws that would normally be edited out or discarded completely. Instead of fighting those limitations, I embrace them, in the spirit of Synthabsentia. The imperfections become part of the texture and the atmosphere and it all turned out ok in the end. The song is in Dorian A (according to my guitar, which is out of tune).
