Skutki Uboczne

Not quite a band. Not quite a collective. More like something that happens when a few people connected to Ubocze end up in the same place with instruments, electronics, visuals, and the idea of seeing what comes out of it. Skutki Uboczne is an improvised project with a constantly changing line-up. There is no fixed group of people and no set repertoire. Before each show, we simply check who is available and feels like playing. Sometimes there are just a few of us, sometimes more. Everyone brings their own instruments, experience and ideas, and the rest happens on the spot. That is also why the only albums you will find here are live recordings or recordings of rehearsals. There are drones, synthesizers, acoustic instruments, percussion, voices, field recordings, noise, and things we sometimes do not even know the names of. And visuals, too. Some sounds are planned, while others emerge at the very last moment. We do not play ready-made songs — we build the music together, in real time. That is why every Skutki Uboczne performance is slightly different. One time it may be calm, spacious and meditative; another time loud, dense and chaotic. There is no predetermined ending and no certainty about where the next sound will take us. This is also why Skutki Uboczne works equally well as a live act or as a musical setting for exhibitions and other events.

Szczupac

Prze-Krój to debiutancki, przekrojowy album Grzegorza Resiaka, działającego pod pseudonimem Szczupac. Dziesięć utworów to autorska mieszanka hip-hopu, dancehallu, reggae, trip-hopu, elektroniki i basowej improwizacji, w której wrażliwość dźwięku spotyka się z nieprzewidywalnością formy. Szczupac wymyka się jednoznacznym kategoriom. Jako autor tekstów, wokalista i producent buduje własny język muzyczny — pełen kontrastów, napięć, przestrzeni i rytmicznych eksperymentów. Prze-Krój jest wyborem z różnych obszarów jego twórczości i zarazem pierwszą oficjalną płytą projektu. To kolejny etap drogi artysty, który ma na koncie ponad czterysta autorskich kompozycji opublikowanych na YouTube. Dziesięć utworów zawartych na Prze-Kroju pokazuje szeroki zakres jego muzycznych zainteresowań, łącząc groove, eksperyment i swobodę improwizacji. ENG Prze-Krój is the debut and wide-ranging album by Grzegorz Resiak, performing under the name Szczupac. Across ten tracks, he blends hip-hop, dancehall, reggae, trip-hop, electronics and bass-driven improvisation into a sound where sonic sensitivity meets unpredictable form. Szczupac’s music resists easy categorisation. As songwriter, vocalist and producer, he creates his own musical language — full of contrasts, tension, space and rhythmic experimentation. Prze-Krój brings together different sides of his work, serving both as a cross-section of his musical interests and the first official release under the Szczupac name. With more than four hundred original compositions published on YouTube, Resiak has been steadily developing a distinctive and highly personal approach to music. The ten tracks on Prze-Krój reveal the breadth of that journey, combining groove, experimentation and improvisational freedom into an eclectic yet coherent debut.

Dariusz Jackowski

Dariusz Jackowski’s latest EP explores the theme of anonymity. The titles of its four tracks are different equivalents of the word “nameless” in Polish, Japanese, Turkmen and Zulu, respectively. Stylistically, the release moves between film and theatre music, creating a suggestive and tension-filled soundscape. Almost orchestral passages — choral voices and bells — are contrasted with the heavy sound of distorted, droning guitar, giving the compositions a strong sense of drama. The unsettling, western-tinged track “Nanashi” also carries the spirit of Ennio Morricone’s work, subtly filtered through Jackowski’s distinctive musical language.

Giorgio Fazer

The album contains six new compositions moving between indie rock, ambient textures, and psychedelic soundscapes. Recorded live in a single take at Studio Wieloślad in Warsaw during the summer of 2023, the record captures the band's spontaneous and organic approach to music-making.
