Not quite a band. Not quite a collective. More like something that happens when a few people connected to Ubocze end up in the same place with instruments, electronics, visuals, and the idea of seeing what comes out of it. Skutki Uboczne is an improvised project with a constantly changing line-up. There is no fixed group of people and no set repertoire. Before each show, we simply check who is available and feels like playing. Sometimes there are just a few of us, sometimes more. Everyone brings their own instruments, experience and ideas, and the rest happens on the spot. That is also why the only albums you will find here are live recordings or recordings of rehearsals. There are drones, synthesizers, acoustic instruments, percussion, voices, field recordings, noise, and things we sometimes do not even know the names of. And visuals, too. Some sounds are planned, while others emerge at the very last moment. We do not play ready-made songs — we build the music together, in real time. That is why every Skutki Uboczne performance is slightly different. One time it may be calm, spacious and meditative; another time loud, dense and chaotic. There is no predetermined ending and no certainty about where the next sound will take us. This is also why Skutki Uboczne works equally well as a live act or as a musical setting for exhibitions and other events.
